SUMMARY:Boar Hunt
DESCRIPTION:Province of the Mists (El Cerrito\, CA) \nWinter is coming\, so it’s time for the Annual Beconsgate Boar Hunt and Feast sponsored by the Province of the Mists! This will be our second year back at Camp Herms—the hunt’s historic home. \nAbout Boar Hunt\nBoar Hunt is a ‘fighting event.’ Mostly. With a feast in the afternoon/evening for everyone else. The heavy’s select one of their number to serve as a ‘boar.’ The boar is chased around Camp Herms while the ‘hunters’ try and dispatch it. Here is where things are different. Most fighting events require that you be authorized. With Boar Hunt\, there is space for the unauthorized. The unauthorized (such as children and an accompanying adult?) can serve as ‘dogs.’ Dogs don’t fight or talk. They can help locate the boar for the hunters\, but they can only ‘point’ and ‘bark’—no fighting\, no talking. Is it silly? Maybe. Is it fun? Well\, the hunt has been going on for 20+ years\, so ‘yes?’ The rapier peeps have a ‘Stag Hunt’ at the same event. \nThe feast portion gives those in the populous who like to cook a chance to show off. \nTicketing\nAdmission to the event and all hunts is free of charge. We welcome donations to help cover site costs. Feast tickets are limited; see below. Sixty Feast Tickets will be available for purchase by the populous. The ticket price is $25.00\, and online sales through PayPal are available currently. \nThings happening a Boar Hunt\n“Bling Ring” Class by Katira al-Maghrebiyya\nStarting at 11:00 am and running until 1:00 pm Katira al-Maghrebiyya will run a class she calls “Bling Rings” in the back room of the Lodge. \nBased on Egyptian scarab rings with a revolving bezel\, she will have enough room for six people at a time. \nNo cost. All materials provided. However\, if you have some beads you want to play with\, you are encouraged to bring them! \nSilent Auction\nAs a fundraiser\, we will also be having a silent auction. All proceeds from the auction will go to the Province coffers. \nFeast Menu (may change)\n\nYou can always find the most up-to-date info at: https://mistsprovince.westkingdom.org/beaconsgate-boar-hunt-2024/ \n\nEvent Steward: Nathaniel of the Mists (Nathaniel Lewis): nat.lewis@gmail.com \nTicket Fee: Donation Only Event; Feast $25 \nLocation: Camp Herms: 1100 James Pl El Cerrito\, CA 94530 \nDirections to site:\nFrom Highway I-80:\nTake McBryde ave exit and turn left\nTake a right on Arlington\nTake a left onto Thors Bay Rd\nRight at first cross street onto James Pl and enter Camp Hermes \nSite Information:\nSite Accessibility: Wheelchair Accessible Electrical Outlets Close / Handicap Parking Cell Phone Reception\nTerrain Description: The terrain for the hunt includes wooded paths\, some steep terrain\, could be muddy.
