Dmitriy and Hannah, Prince and Princess of the Mists, send Greetings to their beloved Populace.
We sincerely thank all those who helped at Our Investiture, especially to the Autocrat, Moira Ramsay, who did such a wonderful job. We likewise thank all those who performed service, all the fighters, all the righteous souls who brought food to share at the potluck, and all who bore witness to the events of that day. We also thank Their Excellencies Leohtulf and Quentyn, for taking great care to see a thriving, prosperous Principality passed into the hands of their successors. We Promise to rule these lands with justice, kindness, strength and wisdom.We welcome all of our subjects, be they the most dignified of triple peers or the most mischievous of one-eyed pirates, to come to us with their questions, concerns, ideas, and suggestions. When one does not speak his mind, even the royals have a hard time reading it. We don't know half of you half as well as we should like... and His Highness promises he is smiling, at least internally.
Unit Commanders! This Principality boasts many valiant warriors, but our collective level of melee prowess, though impressive, falls short of the skill displayed on the individual level. We need to learn to fight together, and the only way to do this is to practice war fighting. To this end, We declare that once a month, there shall be a Principality War Practice during Tuesday Practice at Mission College (single bouts may still take place). The specific dates will be announced on SCA-West, the western_unit_commanders yahoogroup list, and the new www.westernfighters.org website. All unit commanders not yet on the list should contact His Highness, or Eyvandr Gunnarsson, list owner, to subscribe. Remember, West-An Tir is coming soon, and King Thorfinn has sounded the horn of war.
Mists Tournament Circuit! Any combatant who enters a tournament will earn points throughout the reign, from the Spring Coronet to Fall Investiture. Details can be found on the new www.westernfighters.org website. Please contact Duchess Megan, Chancellor of the Tournament Circuit, with questions.
Lastly, we promise that we will avoid discussing the weather and seasons in our words to the Page. We would not wish to confuse our populace with our prophecies, for it is Their Majesties who control the weather. Moreover, it is not our wish to pain those suffering Cloondara's summer chills by describing Teufleberg's balmy climes, or those suffering Teufleberg's scorching heat by describing the merciful summer mists of Cloondara.
