Greetings!
Dance competitions are held at each of the four Principality events each year (Spring Coronet, Spring Investiture, Fall Coronet and Fall Investiture) to determine the newest winner of the Saltatoris Nebularum.
The Saltatoris Nebulorum competition dances for the upcoming year will be as follows:
Spring Coronet: Contrapasso
Spring Investiture: Upon a Summer's Day
Fall Coronet: Basse La Francois Nouvelle
Fall Investiture: Pavane Belle Qui Tient Ma Vie (freeform)
These dances have been chosen because they are easy to learn, and fun to dance. Please join us!
No! All dances are taught at the event before the competition. You don't need to know the dances to participate, they will be taught until everybody feels reasonably confident in their new skills. Once you have a basic grasp of the dance, all you need display to win are the cardinal virtues of dance: Poise, Confidence, Enjoyment and, of course, Flirting.
Come to dance practice!
Wednesday nights starting at 7pm in the South Bay. Basic and beginner-level dance is taught from 7-7:45, more advanced techniques and dances are taught from 7:45-9 PM
1st, 3rd, and 5th Wednesdays in South San Jose
2nd and 4th Wednesdays in Menlo Park
Thursday nights Beginner dance practice at 7 PM in the Barony of Darkwood:
1st, 3rd and 5th Thursdays in Morgan Hill
2nd and 4th Thursdays in Santa Cruz.
We normally wear street clothes to dance practice, not garb.
Email the Saltatoris Nebularum for directions.
There is a dancing competition at each Principality event, and several events are held in the Mists (or nearby) every year which include dance as a focus:
Baroness's Masked Ball (Darkwood)
The Duchess's Ball at 12th Night
Crosston Dance Ball
And then there's a kingdom-wide dance organization called the West Kingdom College of Dance. Everyone is welcome to join, and there is a mailing list to discuss upcoming dance activities.
Come on out and dance - most dancing events have teaching sessions before the official dancing begins, so you can learn what you don? know and participate fully once the fun begins!
