The Silver Muse Award

Good gentles, it greatly pleases us to announce that their Highnesses have approved the following Arts and Sciences award for the Principality of the Mists, entitled the Silver Muse. This award is in some respects similar to the Kingdom Golden Poppy, in that it recognizes an individual's skillful participation in A&S competitions. However, as a muse inspires an artist to excellence, the winner of the Silver Muse must have demonstrated their ability to inspire others by sharing their gifts.

Specifically, the Silver Muse competition has three components:

1. Participation in at least 5 Mists A&S competitions. To qualify, the entry must receive at least 50% of the available points for that competition. This component recognizes the individual's excellence in A&S skills.
   
   
2. At least one entry must include a "teaching" component - a DIY handout or some other form of "how to do what I did" instruction. This information (with the permission of the entrant) will be published via the Mists Web site to further the shared knowledge within our Principality. This component recognizes the individual's willingness to give back to the Principality by teaching their skills to others.
   
   
3. The competitor must make a contribution to the Principality gift basket. The contribution does not have to be one of the A&S entries, but must be an item made by the contributor. This component allows our Principality to proudly display the skills of our artisans by providing gifts for our Royalty to give to worthy recipients.

The competition will run from Spring Coronet through Fall Investiture, with the winner being awarded at Investiture.
